Webinar: Strength through collaboration in Diamond OA publishing

For Open Access Week 2024, the DIAMAS project organised a webinar on the topic of ‘collaboration’ in Diamond open access publishing on 23 October 2024.

The webinar presented some successful examples of collaboration in Europe. It began with a short introduction to Diamond OA collaborations by Mikael Laakso (TSV), followed by engagement, discussion, and experience sharing.

Collaboration at different levels—within an organization, between organizations, regionally, nationally, and internationally—was discussed, with the argument that all these forms of cooperation play a role in improving publishing practices when managed effectively. The smart use of shared services, knowledge exchange, and expertise, along with the potential for cost savings, were highlighted as beneficial not only for individual organizations but also for the system as a whole.

The DIAMAS project invited anyone active or interested in the Diamond OA space from around the world to participate in the webinar. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about successful collaboration examples in Europe and to share their views and experiences during the interactive segments. Participants and communities were invited to share their experiences with collaborations on Diamond OA publishing via an anonymous web form: https://forms.gle/oduBEyJehG3cvkww7
