At this meeting we will discuss the DIAMAS Toolsuite and Guidelines – a set of tools and resources to support Diamond Open Access (ΟΑ) and the Diamond Open Access Standard (DOAS). Launched in October 2024, DIAMAS Toolsuite includes a set of high-level articles, in-depth guidelines and links to self-assessment tools, training materials and other resources. The Guidelines offer detailed instructions and practical guidance to assist Diamond OA publishers in meeting the standards outlined in the DOAS.

The introductory presentations will be followed by a discussion on how libraries can use the DIAMAS Toolsuite and Guidelines to support publishing activities and enrich existing toolkits and guides for Diamond OA publishing.

Regional online workshop for editors and publishers of OA journals in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia. Recorded October 30, 2024, 2.00 PM Open Journal Systems (OJS), free open-source software that facilitates the management and publishing of scholarly journals, plays an important role in the development of infrastructure for Open Access scholarly publishing, as evidenced by the fact that more than 40,000 journals worldwide use OJS. The workshop was hosted for editors and publishers of OA journals, both those who already use OJS and those who are considering using it. During the workshop, several regional examples of OJS are presented.

Recording of the first event in the DIAMAS conversation series for Libraries. Event took place on May 30, 2024. Following an overview of the key findings from our 2023 survey on Diamond OA publishing, the meeting focuses on the pressing issue of financial sustainability for European small- and medium-size publishers and their service providers. Drawing on the results of extensive research, we shed light on key sustainability considerations and challenges faced by them.

DOAS: Self-Assessment Tool for Diamond OA
DIAMAS and CRAFT-OA hosted a joint event to explore the criteria for Diamond Open Access (OA) in this webinar held on May 16, 2024. In this 90-minute session, we explored what makes a journal Diamond OA, engaging with the community to define the essential requirements. The discussion featured an operational definition of Diamond OA, crafted collaboratively by DIAMAS and CRAFT-OA, highlighting its importance in enhancing the discovery and accessibility of Diamond OA journals. This topic holds a central position in the priorities of the DIAMAS Project. The webinar, organised by SPARC Europe, provides an insightful overview of the multifaceted aspects of financial sustainability within institutional Diamond OA publishing. It draws on the results of extensive research amongst hundreds of institutional publishers and service providers through surveys, interviews and focus groups. WEBINAR: Navigating Europe’s Institutional Publishing Landscape (07.02.24)
(Recorded 20/06/23) Three projects. Over 40 partners. One goal: Community-led Open Scholarly Publishing. EU projects CRAFT-OA, DIAMAS, and PALOMERA are working for an equitable future for scholarly communication, with academic communities at the centre. In the webinar, participants were introduced to each project and their individual aims. Following this, discussion focused on how, despite their separate focus areas, their efforts work towards a broad and common vision for a more open and equitable scholarly publishing ecosystem. CRAFT-OA empowers regional journal platforms and publishing service providers to upscale, professionalise, and reach stronger interoperability with other scientific information systems, by providing services and tools. The DIAMAS project is developing common standards, guidelines and practices to build capacity for the Diamond publishing sector. Formulating recommendations of this kind aims to create a more sustainable future for OA Diamond Publishing in Europe. PALOMERA has set out to provide actionable recommendations and concrete resources to support and coordinate aligned funder and institutional policies for Open Access books.
